Hi, I’m Caren Pretorius and the webmaster and owner of Siqik.
Siqik is a blogging network with social networking facilities. It is freely available to the public and is a non-profit website.
The website address is https://siqik.com.
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
We don’t have any images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included.
Images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included – visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
If you, by any chance, found anything like that on the website please inform us as soon as possible on our Contact page.
Siqik keep contact form submissions for a certain period for customer service purposes, but do not use the information submitted through them for marketing purposes.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
Siqik do not use analytics software on the website per se. We use our webhost, Bravenet, analytics. It is completely private and can only be accessed us.
We don’t share your data with anyone.
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
Siqik have security measures, such as a firewall, in place to protect the database.
The site is encrypted, which means that the site uses HTTPS instead of HTTP.
A secure form of Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) that is used to exchange information between webpages or access information found on a webpage. Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure, more commonly referred to as HTTPS, encrypts data before it is sent.
Sending or accessing sensitive information on a website is much more likely to be conducted through HTTPS because of its increased level of encryption. Accessing a brokerage account or online banking platform, for example, involves the exchange of information that a user would likely want to remain secure.
When navigating a webpage the browser automatically looks at the URL to determine whether the page is using HTTP or HTTPS. If the page is using HTTPS the browser exchanges some SSL parameters with the web server, and then opens up a secure connection. The web browser automatically seeks out the certificate, which doesn’t require any action on the user’s part in most situations.
Siqik is a blogging network that won’t require or request any personal or sensitive information from you. The only information that Siqik will store on the database is your IP address, username and name – and, of course, your articles.
However, Siqik has the following in place, should there be a security breach:
Siqik is in partnership with Google Adsense.
