The cute possums of the world may carry their young around with them, but they are not carrying disease. In fact, not only are they eight times less likely to carry the disease than wild dogs, they generally enjoy partial or total immunity to snake venom, even from rattlesnakes and cottonmouths. They may also be a bit sharper than you think, as they’ve been proven to be better at remembering the location of hidden food than rats, rabbits, cats, and dogs.
