‘FC 24’ is coming to EA Play and Xbox Game Pass

The rest of the post confirms what Nintendo already made clear earlier in the year, that after March 2024 players will no longer be able to EAFC 24 Coins make purchases on the Wii U and 3DS eShops, with some content like game demos and free content disappearing too. That said, already purchased games and DLC will be available for download after the store purchases closures.

When the closures were first announced, Nintendo addressed the removal of another way to purchase classic games on its platforms, after being asked asked about them in a now-deleted question and answer segment:

“Across our Nintendo Switch Online membership plans, over 130 classic games are currently available in growing libraries for various legacy systems. The games are often enhanced with new features such as online play,” answered Nintendo.

“We currently have no plans to offer classic content in other ways [outside Nintendo Switch].”

In other news, an EA patent has surfaced that shows the company may extract a user’s playstyle data to target them with specific adverts and in-game content.

At the moment EA Play offers a 10-hour game trial of FC 23, but this will be replaced with the full game on June 24.

It now means that all of EA Sports‘ 2021 titles – FC 23, Madden NFL 23, NHL 23 and F1 2021 – are available as part of an EA Play subscription, which is also available to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers.

Last month, EA started introducing cross-play to FC 23 though the first phase of testing “will only involve Online Seasons and Online Friendlies on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Stadia versions” of the game.

As for why the test won’t be available to PS4, Xbox One or PC players, or why it won’t include FC Ultimate Team, EA said: “While we want to enable our players to play with as many friends and others as possible, we limited the test to these two modes with the aim of reducing the chance for introducing new issues into the game.”

However, EA did say it is “confident that the game data and feedback that we get from these two modes will help inform how cross-play could further be implemented in FCure titles.”

In other news, a report on loot boxes by the Norwegian Consumer Council has slammed FC 23 packs for pressuring players into making in-game purchases and being misleading about their odds of getting particular rewards.

Published last month (May 31), the buy EAFC 24 Coins report offers an investigation into “how the gaming industry exploits consumers using loot boxes” and uses two games – FC 23 and Raid: Shadow Legends – as case studies embodying the industry’s “manipulative” practices regarding loot boxes.
