The quest tracking feature isn’t included on WOTLK Gold the Wrath of the Lich King Classic beta. Blizzard clarifies that the feature along with other features such as the in-game calendar and equipment manager are in development. It’s unclear if the currently planned plan is for quest tracking to be in place in Wrath of theLich King Classic’s launch date or if it will instead be added following the release. In an interview in May, WoW Classic the lead designer Brian Birmingham said Blizzard wouldn’t add quest tracking to let players level to the next level in the expansion as they had done when the expansion first released in 2008. If that is still true that the quest tracker will not initially be in place, but could be added to this game towards the conclusion of the expansion’s content phase in the same manner as it was in the beginning.
Blizzard recently explained its strategy regarding how it’s approaching changes for Wrath of the Lich King Classic and possible coming WoW Classic releases, stating it is determined to protect and foster social experiences while making the game accessible and accessible to players, and to preserve Azeroth in the role of being WoW’s “main main character.” Adding in the quest tracker seems to be in contradiction to certain of the objectives, however, the inclusion of the feature is wanted by a considerable number of players in the game’s community Many of whom would rather use community-made modifications to restore much of its functionality, regardless whether it’s actually added or not.
Wrath of the Lich King Classic doesn’t currently have any release date yet, but is scheduled to release later in the year. Modern WoW’s latest expansion, Dragonflight is scheduled to arrive before the end of 2022.
